Welcome and thank you for your interest in our research. This study is part of a collaboration between researchers at the Arizona State University in the United States and Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea. The project investigates user experience of haptic sensations. We study how people perceive and describe vibration patterns from mobile phones and what algorithms and software tools can facilitate creation of rich haptic experiences by designers and developers. To participate in this experiment, you must: - Be 18 years of age or older. - Understand English at a B2 level. - Not have any sensory impairment (e.g., numbness) in your hands. - You must complete this experiment on an iPhone 8 or a later version with iOS 16.1 or later.
Version History We updated the internal algorithms. 2.0.6 02/21/2024 - This version offers ratings for the similarity of vibrations. 2.0.5 02/14/2024 - This version offers ratings for the emotional and sensory properties of vibrations. 2.0.4 12/29/2023 - The internal algorithm was updated. 2.0.3 11/01/2023 The app was optimized for iPhone 15. 2.0.2 10/04/2023 Internal algorithms were updated. 2.0.1 09/21/2023 - The internal algorithm has been updated. - Users must proceed with this experiment on an iPhone because this study aims to investigate user experience on an iPhone. Version 2.0.0 08/11/2023 - Handled edge cases for the haptic engine. 1.2.4 07/27/2022 - Add new portions to the experiment for vibration - metaphor rating. - New set of vibrations. 1.2.3 07/20/2022 Updated with new vibration patterns. 1.2 06/17/2022 - Bug Fixes 1.1.5 11/06/2021 - Fixed comment box 1.1.4 10/24/2021 - adjusted slider 1.1.3 10/24/2021 - Bug Fix 1.1.2 10/14/2021 - Bug fixes for session expiration - Fixed content clipping on smaller devices 1.1.1 10/12/2021 - Recreated vibrations. - Bug Fixes. - Modified Icon 1.1 10/10/2021 Minor changes to text content. 1.0.6 10/07/2021 - Recreated Vibrations. - Study data is now backed up to ensure no data loss in cases where users do not have an active internet connection. - Added Time limit for training and experimental phase. 1.0.5 10/07/2021 - Recreated the vibrations to have correct amplitude and frequency. - Updated dependencies. 1.0.4 09/22/2021 - Added San Francisco State University's logo. - Modified consent form to include San Francisco State Universities role. - Modified button sizes in the training phase. - Adjusted text on final screen. 1.0.3 08/17/2021 Minor bug fix. 1.0.2 08/16/2021 1.0.1 08/16/2021
